Carpenter leads offense to series win

Matt Carpenter drove in three and scored a run as the Cardinals took the game and the series with a 6-4 win against the Cubs on Sunday afternoon at Busch Stadium. Though Cardinals starter Michael Wacha gave up more runs in the first three batters he faced Sunday than in his two previous starts combined, the rookie settled in and pitched 6 1/3 strong innings. He was lifted with Mike Olt on second and one out in the seventh, in favor of Kevin Siegrist, who ended the threat by striking out Darwin Barney and getting Emilio Bonifacio to fly to center in front of an announced crowd of 44,135.
