Cards/Phillies Sunday Night

Former first-round draft pick Jake Westbrook tries to make it two straight pitching gems on Sunday when he and the St. Louis Cardinals visit Citizens Bank Park to wrap up a four-game series with the Philadelphia Phillies. The 21st overall pick of the Colorado Rockies way back in 1996, Westbrook has 99 victories in a big-league career that began when he debuted with the New York Yankees in 2000. He won a career-high 15 games with the Cleveland Indians in both 2005 and 2006, then won 13 with the Cardinals while posting a 3.97 earned run average in 174 2/3 innings.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Washington Senior Running Back Jared Rennick. He carried the ball 19 times for 197 yards and two touchdowns in Friday's 34-12 win over St. Clair. Jared also wrestles and he is a good student with a 3.0 GPA. His favorite football team other than the Blue Jays is the Missouri Tigers.

August 9, 2014, will forever be marked in the history books as the date Michael Brown was shot by a Ferguson police officer.

It is the aftermath of that event, however, which history will forever remember. The protesters, the looters, the agitators, the Hands Up Don't Shoot movement, the dramatic announcement of the grand jury, the buildings up in flames. In the process, the community and image of Ferguson was destroyed.
