Cards/Braves Game 2

Adam Wainwright takes aim at a National League-leading 15th victory of the season on Friday night when the St. Louis Cardinals play the second contest of a four-game series with the Atlanta Braves. Wainwright enters this start 14-7 with a 2.66 earned run average in 26 starts, tying him with Washington's Jordan Zimmermann for the most wins in the league. The Braves counter with Kris Medlen, who has won each of his last four starts but picked up a losing decision when pressed into emergency relief last Saturday versus Washington. Medlen pitched the final three frames of a 15-inning loss, giving up the deciding run on a solo homer. He dropped to 10-11 with a 3.71 ERA in 25 games this year, all but one of those starts. Game time is 7:15. The Cardinals are in second place in the NL Central one game behind first place Pittsburgh.

ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Union Senior Bethany Coons. Bethany finished the basketball season at Union averaging 11 points and eight assists per game. Coach Dusty Weiskopf says Bethany is good at handling the basketball and teams would find it difficult to press Union when Bethany was in the game because of her lateral movement. When combining her scoring and assist averages, Bethany was contributing about 25 points per game.

On March 24, 2015, Lufthansa Airlines pilot Andreas Lubitz steered a planeful of passengers into the French Alps, killing 150 people in a grisly act of murder/suicide.

The logical first question the world is asking is why? We ask this not only to make some sort of rational sense out of the irrational act, but also so that we can try to prevent something like it from happening again.
