Cards Crush Reds

Matt Adams smacked a two-run homer as the Cardinals crushed the Reds 15-2 in the rubber match of a weekend series at Great American Ball Park. David Freese and Tony Cruz added solo homers and drove in two runs apiece for the Redbirds, who have won three-of-four since a seven-game skid. Lance Lynn struck out 11 over eight innings of two-run ball as he improved to 13-and-5. The Cards start a four-game series with the Dodgers tonight.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Borgia Freshman Golfer Thomas Alferman. Alferman is a member of the Borgia team that qualified for the state tournament at Silo Ridge in Boliver this week. In the district tournament at the Sullivan Country Club, Thomas shot a 13 over par 84 helping the team to a second place finish.

Commencement, it is said, is a beginning. Yet graduations are also the end of an era--for students and their parents. For the kids, it's a time of excitement and promise. For parents, it's a bit more bittersweet.

What will the future hold for the Class of 2015? Time will tell.

My youngest has now graduated from high school. Back in 1980, I was the youngest of my family who graduated.

The Cardinals and Royals renew their I-70 rivalry tonight in Kansas City. It's a battle of first-place teams, with Lance Lynn slated to oppose the Royals' Chris Young in the opener of the three-game set. The teams will rematch with three more games at Busch Stadium in mid-June.
