Cards, Brewers Close Series

The Cardinals and Brewers close out their three-game series this afternoon at Miller Park. St. Louis sends Joe Kelly to the mound looking to move to 2-and-0. Milwaukee counters with right-hander Wily Peralta. First pitch is set for 12:10.

Jhonny Peralta hit a two-run homer and Matt Holliday added a two-run shot as the Cardinals drubbed the Brewers 6-1 at Miller Park yesterday. Shelby Miller tossed six innings of one-run ball with seven K's to move to 1-and-2. The Birds have won four straight.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Freshman Cross Country Runner Julia McIntyre from New Haven High School. Julia finished sixth in the state meet in Jefferson City with a time of 20:58.40 at the Oak Hills Golf Course in Jefferson City earlier this month. She helped her team to a 12th place finish. Julia was a straight A student at Franklin County R-2 and she continues to get A's in high school.

Scottie Upshall scored the game-winning goal early in the third period to help the Blues slip by the Blue Jackets 3-1 at the Scottrade Center. Vladimir Tarasenko added his 14th goal of the season and Jake Allen made 23 saves to earn the win for St. Louis, which improved to 15-6-and-3. Ryan Johansen tallied the lone goal for Columbus, which had won two straight. Sergei Bobrovsky stopped 29 of 31 shots in the loss.
