Cards, Brewers Close Series

The Cardinals and Brewers close out their three-game series this afternoon at Miller Park. St. Louis sends Joe Kelly to the mound looking to move to 2-and-0. Milwaukee counters with right-hander Wily Peralta. First pitch is set for 12:10.

Jhonny Peralta hit a two-run homer and Matt Holliday added a two-run shot as the Cardinals drubbed the Brewers 6-1 at Miller Park yesterday. Shelby Miller tossed six innings of one-run ball with seven K's to move to 1-and-2. The Birds have won four straight.

OFF THE CUFF with Diane Jones

August 9, 2014, will forever be marked in the history books as the date Michael Brown was shot by a Ferguson police officer.

It is the aftermath of that event, however, which history will forever remember. The protesters, the looters, the agitators, the Hands Up Don't Shoot movement, the dramatic announcement of the grand jury, the buildings up in flames. In the process, the community and image of Ferguson was destroyed.
