Saturday-Cards 6 Giants 3

Barry Zito tossed seven innings of three-hit ball to help the Giants blank the Cardinals, 1-0. It was the home opener at AT&T Park for the defending World Series champions. Angel Pagan drew a bases-loaded walk to score Gregor Blanco in the bottom of the fourth for the game's lone run. Sergio Romo locked up his third save of the year for San Francisco, which improved to 3-and-1 on the season. August 9, 2014, will forever be marked in the history books as the date Michael Brown was shot by a Ferguson police officer.

The protesters, the looters, the agitators, the Hands Up Don't Shoot movement, the dramatic announcement of the grand jury, the buildings up in flames.
