Cardinals Drop Close One In Houston

The Astros put together a four-run fourth inning, which was enough for a 4-3 win over the Cardinals at Minute Maid Park Wednesday. The Cardinals' Matt Carpenter flied out with two runners on base to end the game. Yadier Molina and Allen Craig hit home runs for the Cardinals. Lance Lynn took the loss to snap a six-game winning streak and is 10-and-2.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Senior Swimmer Michael Matthews from St. Francis Borgia Regional High School in Washington. Michael medalled in two events at the state swim meet at the St. Peters Rec-Plex. He took 7th in the 50-Yard Freestyle and 4th in the 100-Yard Butterfly. Michael also medalled in four events in the AAA Conference meet, helping Borgia secure the conference title.

Max Pacioretty scored twice on his 26th birthday as the Canadiens cruised to a 4-1 win over the Blues at the Bell Centre. Vladimir Tarasenko scored the lone goal in the first period for St. Louis, which fell to 0-and-2 on its four-game road trip. Jake Allen allowed all four goals on 30 shots in the setback. The Blues skate in Ottawa tomorrow.
