Canucks Quiet Blues In Overtime

Ryan Kesler lit the lamp with just 15 seconds left in overtime to send the Canucks to a 3-2 win over the Blues at Scottrade Center. It was Kesler's second goal of the game and seventh of the season. Chris Higgins also scored for Vancouver while Mike Santorelli notched to assists. Eddie Lack halted 22 shots in goal for the Canucks, who have won three straight. Alexander Steen had a goal and an assist while Vladimir Sobotka also scored for St. Louis. Jaroslav Halak stopped 18 shots as the Blues lost their third in four games.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Senior Taylor Covington with the New Haven Track and Field Team. Taylor earned All-State honors medaling in four events at the state track meet at Lincoln University in Jefferson City Friday and Saturday. She ran anchor on the 4X800 relay team that finished in sixth place.

Commencement, it is said, is a beginning. Yet graduations are also the end of an era--for students and their parents. For the kids, it's a time of excitement and promise. For parents, it's a bit more bittersweet.

What will the future hold for the Class of 2015? Time will tell.

My youngest has now graduated from high school. Back in 1980, I was the youngest of my family who graduated.

Ben Stephens pitched into the ninth inning leading Warrenton to a 5-0 win over Washington at Ronsick Field. Stephens struck out 10 and walked three before leaving the game. Washington loaded the bases in the ninth, but the game was called when heavy rain and lightning moved in. Warrenton scored single runs in the first, sixth, and seventh and added two insurance runs in the ninth.
