American Legion Baseball

The Washington Senior Legion baseball team dropped to 1-1 on the season following a 3-0 loss to House Springs Monday afternoon at Ronsick Field. Washington was mounting a threat in the home half of the seventh inning when Jack Kopmann led off with a walk and Trent Leimkuehler reached on an error. Clean up hitter Sam Katzung was at the plate with an 0-1 count when the rain, wind and lightning moved in. The game was called giving House Springs the win. Post 783 improves to 1-2. Washington is right back in action this evening with a road game against Daniel Boone at C&H Park.

OFF THE CUFF with Diane Jones

August 9, 2014, will forever be marked in the history books as the date Michael Brown was shot by a Ferguson police officer.

It is the aftermath of that event, however, which history will forever remember. The protesters, the looters, the agitators, the Hands Up Don't Shoot movement, the dramatic announcement of the grand jury, the buildings up in flames. In the process, the community and image of Ferguson was destroyed.
