2014 Class To Be Inducted Into Cooperstown Sunday

The 2014 class is set to be inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame on Sunday. Pitchers Greg Maddux and Tom Glavine, first baseman Frank Thomas, and managers Tony la Russa, Bobby Cox and Joe Torre make up this year's class. Sunday's ceremony is at 12:30. Maddux was a four-time NL Cy Young winner with 355 wins for the Cubs, Braves, Dodgers and Padres. Glavine won two NL Cy Young Awards and had 305 career wins with the Braves and Mets. Thomas was a two-time AL MVP with 495 career home runs. La Russa won three World Series titles with the Cardinals, A's and White Sox and ranks third in all-time managerial wins with 2,728. Cox was a four-time Manager of the Year with the Braves and Blue Jays and ranks fourth on the all-time wins list. Torre won four World Series titles as manager of the Yankees and was also skipper of the Mets, Braves, Cardinals and Dodgers. He ranks fifth on the all-time wins list.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is State Champion Wrestler Dalton Voyles from Pacific High School. Dalton won the class 3 title at 182 pounds with a 6-2 decision over Zach Courtoise of Kearney Saturday at the University of Missouri-Columbia. It caps off a tremendous season for Dalton with a 56-2 record. Dalton, who is very good on his feet, took control early in the bout in securing the win over Courtoise.
