Beware of Leaders Who Blame

Audio:

On the evening of December 2, nearly the entire nation of Venezuela went dark in the second massive power outage to take place in less than a year. Rather than take responsibility for the failures of the state-owned electric company, socialist president Nicolas Maduro instead told the Venezuelan people to "be strong against this electrical war that fascists have declared against our people."

Imagine if Ameren UE had responded to power outages caused by a 2006 ice storm in similar fashion to Maduro. People then demanded accountability--and they got it.

It is an excellent example of the responses of socialist governments, rather than those of the private sector.

Lesson learned? Beware of leaders who blame.

There are few things more inspiring in life than watching an octogenarain with two hip replacements swimming a 200 yard race, or guys in their late 70's playing some pretty vigorous 3 on 3 basketball. A generation of baby boomers is learning that, while they can't reverse age, they certainly can embrace life!
