Tessa Johanning

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Senior Pitcher Tessa Johanning from Sullivan High School. She pitched a no hitter leading Sullivan to a 10-0 five inning victory over Salem in the district semifinal Thursday evening. Tessa finished the regular season with a 14-4 record, 113 innings pitched, 107 strike outs and 53 walks and a 2.27 earned run average. As a hitter, Johanning bats second in the lineup. Batting average .300 with six doubles and 11 runs batted in. Tessa is a good contact hitter with only one strike out on the season and two walks. She has continued the tradition of strong pitching in the circle for the Eagles as Sullivan ran its streak to 42 consecutive wins in the four rivers conference, that's six years without a loss in league play.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Senior Golfer Brad Carpenter from Washington High School. In a recent match against Fort Zumwalt South at Wolf Hollow, Brad carded a six under par 29 to lead the team to a 148-176 win over the Bulldogs. Brad will attend Missouri State University in Springfield on a golf and academic scholarship. He started playing golf at the age of 12 and developed an immediate love for the game.
