Washington is Preparing for an Enhancement Project on Highway 100 East of Highway 47.

The city of Washington is preparing for an enhancement project on highway 100 east of highway 47. Mayor Sandy Lucy says it would be a beautification project and will include flowers and scrubs in the center lane of 100, but she also says it will not disrupt traffic or business in any way. Lucy says that project is scheduled for next spring. The city will receive more than $700,000 in federal funding to do the work.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Washington Post 218 Senior Legion Baseball Player Aaron Meyer. Aaron is a pitcher and third basemen for the team this summer. He has hit third in the order and has maintained an average above .300 throughout the season. His current average is .321 with an on base percentage of .396. Aaron leads the team with 22 RBI, two home runs and two triples He has also scored 15 runs.

Four different Pirates collected two RBI each as they defeated the Cardinals 9-1 at Busch Stadium. Leadoff man Gregory Polanco went hitless but walked twice and scored two runs for Pittsburgh, which avoided the four-game sweep. Russell Martin was 3-for-4 with a solo homer and two RBI for the Bucs. Edinson Volquez allowed the run over nine innings to improve to 8-and-6. Shelby Miller gave up four runs in five innings for the loss.
