Union Woman Killed Sunday Night

A Union woman was killed Sunday night after being struck by a car. Shari Pehle was attempting to cross Highway 47 when she was struck by a 2000 Chevy Cobalt driven by Jennifer Separate of Richwoods Missouri. Pehle was involved in a separate accident a short time before she was struck. She was crossing the street to retrieve her insurance information from her house when the fatal accident occurred. There was no alcohol involved. Pehle was pounced dead at the scene by Union ambulance around 6:15PM.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Washington Varsity Soccer Goalie Camron Shipley. Camron made countless saves in Washington's 1-0 win over Borgia Saturday night at Jim Scanlan Stadium at Washington High School. The game was scoreless through regulation and two overtimes and Shipley only gave up one goal in the shootout. Camron is a senior and this is his first year playing soccer.

If you want to get someone's attention, whisper. That old investment brokerage ad is the opposite of what is going on regarding shootings in Ferguson and Tower Grove. When people threaten violence or blankly label one as a racist, it's very hard to listen. The same holds true for those who sum up the plight of impoverished black communities as "that's how those people are."

Madison Bumgarner tossed seven innings of one-run ball to lead the Giants in a 7-1 victory over the Royals in Game One of the World Series from Kauffman Stadium. Bumgarner allowed just three hits and a walk while striking out five and Hunter Pence hit a two-run homer as part of a three-run first inning. Pablo Sandoval also drove in two for San Francisco, which takes a 1-0 lead in the best-of-seven series.
