Security Cameras Set Up in Certain Areas Inside Washington City Parks

The recommendation to install security cameras in certain areas inside Washington city parks will go before the city council for consideration, Mayor Sandy Lucy says that the issue was discussed at this week’s administration committee meeting. The recommendation to install cameras on the main stage of the fair grounds and the Phoenix Center’s two tennis courts will go before the full council next month. Mayor Lucy says that someone recently set fire to a portable restroom located next to the tennis courts.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Gus Kleekamp with the Washington Post 218 Junior American Legion Baseball Team. Gus pitches, plays shortstop and bats third on the Junior Legion team that won the state championship in Blue Springs over the weekend. He posted the save in a 4-3 win over Festus in the title game. His batting average is .400 with 47-rbi and 47 runs scored. As a pitcher, he's 5-0 with an ERA of 1.631 and a WHIP of .961.
