Missouri Governor Jay Nixon is Asking Hunters to Participate in the Share the Harvest Program

Deer hunting season is nearly here and Missouri Governor Jay Nixon is asking hunters to help families in need by participating in the Share the Harvest program. Nixon is traveling to Columbia, Independence, and St. Charles on October 3, 2012 to speak at Bass Pro Shops and encourage deer hunters to donate venison to the Share the Harvest program. Share the Harvest is a partnership of the Conservation Federation of Missouri, the Missouri Department of Conservation, food banks, and pantries and meet processors.

Ryan Sweeney went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run and 4 RBI as the Chicago Cubs hung on to beat the St. Louis Cardinals, 7-6, in the opener of a three-game set. Luis Valbuena smacked a two-run shot and crossed the plate three times for the Cubs, who handed the Cardinals their fourth straight loss. Kevin Siegrist (1-2) gave up the tie-breaking two-run homer to Valbuena in the seventh and was tagged with the loss.
