Man Beaten With Bat and Fireplace Poker

A Pacific man was hospitalized by several suspects who duct taped and beat him with a baseball bat and fireplace poker. According to police the man possibly owed money for drugs or stole money from the suspects. The victim and his girlfriend were lured to a house on Grand Army Lane in Labadie by 42 year old Carla Manning of Pacific. The couple was told that 55 year old Larry Ortmann wasn’t going to be home and that it was safe to come over. When the couple arrived at the house they were ambushed and assaulted by several suspects including Ortmann and Manning. The girlfriend managed to escape and fled to a neighbor’s house where she called the Franklin County Sheriff’s office. Upon arrival, the sheriff’s office, assisted by the narcotics unit found drug paraphernalia and a meth lab outside. The 25 year old victim was taken to Mercy Washington with several broken bones in his hand. The two suspects that remained in the house, Ortmann and Manning, were charged with felonious restraint and assault and bonded out of jail over the weekend.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Union Post 297 Senior American Legion Baseball Player Trey Fink. Earlier this season in a game against St. Peters, Trey pitched a complete game with 11 strike outs and no walks in an 8-1 win. He also went the distance in a tough luck 6-1 loss to Washington. He only gave up four hits with 13 strike outs and one walk. Time and again, Trey has proven his ability to go deep into games.
