Franklin County Suspending Concealed Carry Permits

The process for getting and renewing a concealed carry permit in Franklin County is about to change. One of the most significant changes is that the Missouri Department of Revenue will no longer have any part in the processing of Conceal Carry Permits after August 29 of this year. This includes first time applications, renewals, or existing permits. The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, who is responsible for issuing permits in Franklin County, will cease processing either first time applicants or renewals beginning August 16th. The Missouri Sheriffs’ Association will be distributing necessary equipment or software to process and issue the permits sometime after that date. Franklin County Sheriff Gary Toelke reports the process to switch out the new equipment will take a few weeks, during which time no permits can be issued or renewed.
