Franklin County Holiday Crackdown

From mid-December through New Year’s Day, The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office will be out in force as part of the annual nationwide “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” crackdown on drunk driving. The crackdown, which will include high-visibility enforcement throughout Franklin County, will run from December 13 through January 2nd. The effective nationwide drunk driving crackdown will include high-visibility enforcement, high-profile events, and will be supported by national paid advertising, creating a comprehensive campaign to curb drunk driving over the winter holidays. Sgt. Steve Pelton states in 2012, 230 people died in Missouri crashes involving impaired drivers. That works out to approximately one impaired driving fatality every 1 ½ days. During the Christmas holidays in 2012, a total of 12 people were killed in motor vehicle traffic crashes involving impaired drivers or motorcycle riders.

On Saturday, September 6, our family lost a dear friend to a car accident. Listeners know her as Lexi the Impulse Puppy. It surprised us a bit just how much the loss struck us--a tribute to just how much that dog loved us--and just how much we loved that dog. Dogs are not the same as people, but they certainly tap into the very best of us.
