Berger Man Facing Assault Charges

A Berger man has been picked up on assault charges after his victim barely escaped with her life. Last week, Franklin County Deputies were contacted by the victim of an assault who stated she had gone to her ex-husband’s house in the 600 block of 5th Street in Berger to pick up a bank card and an argument began. She told police 34 year old Joseph Marinaccio grabbed a metal bar and began chasing her through the house. She ran in to the bathroom and fell in to the bathtub where she was assaulted with the metal bar. According to the victim, Marinaccio was deciding what to do with her when she saw an opportunity to run to a neighbor’s house. She was eventually taken to Herman Area Hospital where she remained for several days recovering from her wounds. Sunday deputies found the suspect at his home in Berger and he was arrested. He was also found to be in possession of what is believed to be crystal methamphetamine.

Every election year, I hear the same complaints about the political party system, rigged elections and flawed candidates. As it happens, many of these come from folks who are rationalizing their decision not to vote.

I have a word for those who opt not to vote and then complain bitterly about the folks who end up running our country.

Malcontents.

Thanks to a balanced scoring attack and a second half surge, the Mizzou Men's Basketball team improved to 2-1 on the season with a 78-64 win over Oral Roberts Wednesday evening at Mizzou Arena. Freshman Montaque Gill-Caesar led the offensive output for Missouri with 19 points, with 10 total Tigers reaching the score sheet on the night.
