$300+ Fine for Speeding in Highway 100 Construction Zone

With the Highway 100 widening project beginning on Monday April 8, 2013 the Washington Police Department would like to advise all motorists that police officers will be strictly enforcing speed limits in the area, which will be designated a “Construction Zone.” With this designation, persons convicted of speeding in a construction zone may be assessed up to $250 in addition to the normal speeding fine. Safety is the prime motivator of this effort, both of the construction zone workers and the motorists. There will be lane changes, detours, and other temporary changes that may confuse drivers. All are encouraged to slow down and adhere to the temporary speed limits. The project is expected to last until late September, 2013.
