The Morning Drive

THE MORNING DRIVE with Bruce Campbell & John Covington: Local & national news, sports, traffic & weather, talk—includes Off the Cuff, Athlete of the Week, & the Mike Huckabee Report.

Bruce Campbell came into the world kicking and screaming in 1987. Twenty years later he graduated from Broadcast Center in St. Louis in 2007 and the rest is history.

Bruce is a movie and video game aficionado and he'll make sure you're aware of that fact. He's not the kind of voice you would normally hear on a talk radio station and he likes it that way, but even if he isn't aware of it he probably has an opinion on just about anything he comes across, whether it be politics or what's coming out in theaters on any given weekend.

Bruce grew up in New Haven, MO and has always loved living in the Franklin County Area. He couldn't be happier being a part of the KLPW team.

Be sure to catch both of Bruce Campbell's shows. You can hear him on The Morning Drive from 6-8 and be sure to catch Live for the Drive from 4-6 only on KLPW AM All Talk 1220! Accoring to him, "Can you really have too much Bruce Campbell? I'd like to think you can't."

John Covington has been employed at KLPW Radio for 24-years. He has performed a variety of tasks from sales to news and sports and currently holds the title of Sports Director.

A winner of the NSSA Missouri Sportscaster of the Year award in 2007 and 2009, John coordinates and broadcasts about 140-local football, volleyball, softball, basketball and baseball games each year. He is also a recipient of a 2010 Distinguished Service Award from the Missouri Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association. John also hosts the Sports Club Show Saturday mornings which features interviews with local coaches from the Four Rivers Conference, Washington and St. Francis Borgia.

When he's not broadcasting sports John enjoys spending time with his wife and three daughters who are also involved in athletics.

His interests away from radio include hunting and fishing, playing hockey and coaching little league softball in the summer.

The Expendables Review, My Take On This Modern Action Film

3.5 out of 5 stars. It was very entertaining and I recommend it to anyone who misses the good ol' days of action movies. Before, as Stallone put it, there were Velcro muscles and the goal of the movie was to simply blow stuff up and make it OK to root for the good guy. All in... all, good times...oh yeah, Arnold was in it too and I've never felt more nostalgic. The best way to think of this movie is it's a passing of the torch kind of movie. Stallone, Arnold, and Willis were paying their respects to the modern action star. Times have change of course, but I think it makes them fe...el pretty good to see action stars like Statham and Li keeping the genre alive and well. The REAL action movie lives on and it's pleasant to see it's not going anywhere for a long time. It was looking pretty dismal there for a while but all you have to do is go back to your roots, an idea that can be used in all walks of life. Go see it, you'll laugh, you might even tear up a bit, but I can promise you that you will enjoy it even if blowing stuff up isn't really your thing. Trust me, it will become your thing. That's my take on it anyway.

The Boyfriend Who Bailed

The one rule there is when someone is on a baseball date -- don't let your date get hit by a foul ball -- this guy can't follow. Click the link and enjoy seeing the boyfriend who bailed on the foul ball and got his girlfriend hit, courtesy of MLB.com.

Sailboats and Whales Don't Mix

Some people go whale watching over and over again and never even get a glimpse of a whale up close. These people only wanted to go sailing and a whale tries to destroy their boat. Where's the justice here? Click the link to see pictures of a whale who thought it'd be a good idea to jump in a sailboat. Link courtesy of Yahoo! News.
