Charges Filed Against Man Who Allegedly Struck and Killed a Mo-Dot Worker

Charges have been filed against the man who allegedly struck and killed a Missouri Department of Transportation worker. Prosecutors say that 35-year-old David Murdick of Blue Springs was drunk when he hit 50-year-old Clifton Scott, who was working to redirect traffic following an accident along Interstate 70 in Independence during the early morning of September 21, 2012.Murdick faces a felony charge of involuntary manslaughter.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Seth Schenck. The New Haven Junior won the state title in the the 800 meter run at Lincoln University in Jefferson City. His time of 1:59.20 set a new school record. Seth also took second in the 1600 meter run with a time of 4:30.49 and anchored the 4X800 relay team that captured seventh place. Seth also played basketball and ran cross country in his junior year at New Haven.

Lance Lynn tossed six scoreless frames to guide the St. Louis Cardinals to a 7-0 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers in the opener of a three-game set. Lynn gave up just two hits and struck out nine to pick up the win. David Freese went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer and three RBI and Allen Craig added a pair of hits, including a solo homer, and drove in three for the Cardinals, winners in four of their last five games.
