Rachael Bassett

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Union Basketball Player Rachael Bassett. Rachael reached one thousand points for her high school career over the weekend. She averages 13.5 points and eight-rebounds per game. She is a four year varsity starter for the Lady Wildcats. Bassett scored eight-points in a 65-60 win over Waynesville Monday night.

Rachael's athletic career will come to an end following high school graduation. She plans to attend Colorado State University.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Seth Schenck. The New Haven Junior won the state title in the the 800 meter run at Lincoln University in Jefferson City. His time of 1:59.20 set a new school record. Seth also took second in the 1600 meter run with a time of 4:30.49 and anchored the 4X800 relay team that captured seventh place. Seth also played basketball and ran cross country in his junior year at New Haven.

Lance Lynn tossed six scoreless frames to guide the St. Louis Cardinals to a 7-0 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers in the opener of a three-game set. Lynn gave up just two hits and struck out nine to pick up the win. David Freese went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer and three RBI and Allen Craig added a pair of hits, including a solo homer, and drove in three for the Cardinals, winners in four of their last five games.
