The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Washington Junior Baseball Player Matt MIller.
Current batting average is .324 with six rbi. On base percentage is .419 with a slugging percentage of .324. Matt can play any position in the outfield. He has above average speed with a strong arm. As a pitcher, Matt has a 2-1 record with an earned run average of .98 through 18.3 innings pitched. Matt has racked up 20 strike outs and issued 12 walks. Matt played his freshman year, but had to sit out his sophomore year due to an ankle injury. Matt will usually bat in the middle to bottom third in the lineup, however, he has been leading off in the past week while Brian Trigg attends the DECA Conference. Coach Scott Bray describes Matt as a hard worker with a positive attitude.

ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Senior Allison Hinson with the St. Clair Track and Field Team. Allison won state in the Class 4 Shot Put with a distance of 47-feet-three and three quarter inches in the state track championships at Lincoln University in Jefferson City Friday. Allison will continue her throwing career at Illinois State University. She has also been an honor role student throughout her high school career.

Commencement, it is said, is a beginning. Yet graduations are also the end of an era--for students and their parents. For the kids, it's a time of excitement and promise. For parents, it's a bit more bittersweet.

What will the future hold for the Class of 2015? Time will tell.

My youngest has now graduated from high school. Back in 1980, I was the youngest of my family who graduated.
