Cullen VanLeer

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Junior Basketball Player Cullen VanLeer of the Pacific Indians. Cullen was named the Most Valuable Player of the Union Tournament last week. He scored 17 points in Pacific's 33-31 overtime win over Borgia in the title game. For the season, Cullen is averaging 23.3 points, 8.4 rebounds, four assists and 1.4 steals per game. He has shot 53.1 percent from the floor and 75.2 on free throws. Cullen was also named the MVP of the Owensville Tournament in early January, leading the Indians to the title. Cullen is also a very good student. He has been a varsity starter since his freshman year and he is capable of playing every position on the floor and he loves playing inside.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is State Champion Wrestler Dalton Voyles from Pacific High School. Dalton won the class 3 title at 182 pounds with a 6-2 decision over Zach Courtoise of Kearney Saturday at the University of Missouri-Columbia. It caps off a tremendous season for Dalton with a 56-2 record. Dalton, who is very good on his feet, took control early in the bout in securing the win over Courtoise.

Paul Stastny netted the game-winner with 5:40 to play to give the Blues a 2-1 win over the Oilers at Rexall Place. Dmitrij Jaskin found the back of the net as well and Brian Elliot had 21 saves. The victory was St. Louis's fourth straight on the road. Ben Scrivens gave up both goals on 27 shots for Edmonton, which has dropped five of its last seven. Justin Schultz scored the Oilers' lone goal in the loss.
