Washington Moves Forward With Annexation

On a 6 to 2 vote the Washington City Council has voted to move forward with the annexation of parcels of land to the east and south of the existing city limits. The question remains, what will happen with the west. Washington Mayor Sandy Lucy says, at the Monday night council meeting, some debate took place over individual parcels in the western annexation plan. The issue was tabled until the next meeting. Mayor Lucy says the plan remains to get the issue on the ballot for the August primary election. If any changes are decided on during the next meeting, the city will post the new map on the city’s website.
