Washington Athletic Field Renovation Begins Next Week

Work on the new athletic field at Washington High School will begin next week. Washington Assistant Superintendent Dr. Mehan says the field improvements were approved at this weeks board meeting. Byrne and Jones are contracted to do the work which will include a new synthetic turf, new track, lighting, visiting bleachers, fence, concession stands, and sidewalk and improvements to the entrance to comply with ADA requirements. The 2 point 325 million dollar project is projected to be complete by September 9th. The first day of school is August 20th and the field may not be complete by the first couple football games. Dr. Mehan say the passage of Question 1 on April 2nd opened up some capital improvement funds to fix the deteriorating athletic complex.
