Sullivan Man Placed on Probation

A Sullivan man had been placed on probation after entering a plea relating to felony counts of filing false Missouri income tax return and two felony counts of theft. A 14-month investigation between the Missouri Department of Revenue’s Criminal Tax Investigation Bureau and the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department found that Richard Miller had obtained more than $230,000 form deceit. The victim was duped into supplying operating capital from a nonexistent business. Miller was indicted by the Franklin County Grand Jury for theft and filing false individual income tax returns for the years of 2007, 2008, and 2009. Miller entered an Alford plea, which is not an admission of guilt, but that there is enough evidence for conviction. A seven year sentence was suspended and Miller was placed on five years probation. One of the conditions of the probation is that Miller pay restitution. A hearing is scheduled for December 18, 2012.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Anna Houston with the Union Track and Field Team. She was recently named the Girls Outstanding Performer in the Four Rivers Conference Meet at St. Clair High School. Anna ran in the district meet in Jefferson City Saturday and qualified for the sectional in the 100 and 300 hurdles, the long jump and the 4X400 Relay.
