Softball Team Looking For Donations After Thieves Empty Storage Unit

The Sullivan Girls Softball team may not have a season this year because thieves emptied out their storage unit. The Franklin County Sheriff’s Department received a report a few days ago that about 35 hundred dollars worth of softball gear was taken from the storage unit located on East Springfield Road. Sheriff Toelke says the storage unit was locked up last October so the crime could have occurred anytime since then. Coach Kristi Wheeler says the leagues plan to expand may need to be put on hold this year. “It only went through age 14 and we were hoping to expand and add a league for 15 to 18 year olds.”Wheeler says the league currently has 250 to 300 girls and hopes to save this season with public donations. You can also help out the league by donating money at the Bank of Sullivan or Peoples Bank. Donations can be mailed to PO Box 464 Sullivan Missouri 63080 or by emailing SullivanSoftball@gmail.com.
