Senior Trail Ride moved to Lions Lake

The Senior Trail Ride scheduled for Wednesday has been moved to Lions Lake and the Swine Pavilion at the Washington Fairgrounds, due to flood conditions on the river. Tram rides will be at 9, 10, 11, noon, 1 and 2:00. Bingo games will be under the main pavilion starting at 9:00. Lunch will be served from 10:30 to 1:30. Tram ride seats are still available. There is no charge for the event or food. You can make reservations by calling the Washington Parks Department at 636-390-1080.

Event co-chair Barb Hellmann said that logistics are in place to be able to shuttle seniors from the parking area directly to the pavillion. Valet parking also will be available. Those living within the city limits of Washington who need a ride can call the Parks Department, and a free ride will be provided by Modern Auto Company of Washington.

Commencement, it is said, is a beginning. Yet graduations are also the end of an era--for students and their parents. For the kids, it's a time of excitement and promise. For parents, it's a bit more bittersweet.

What will the future hold for the Class of 2015? Time will tell.

My youngest has now graduated from high school. Back in 1980, I was the youngest of my family who graduated.
