Patrol Reports Traffic Fatalities Up This 4th of July Weekend

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports 17 people died in traffic crashes during the July Fourth holiday weekend. Troopers arrested 199 people for driving while intoxicated during this year’s 102-hour holiday counting period. Those numbers are way up from last year, when troopers worked 99 traffic crashes in which three people died and 45 were injured. Troopers arrested 59 people for driving while intoxicated last year.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Washington Sophomore Guard Kyra Hardesty. Kyra scored 59 points in a game against Pacific leading the Lady Jays to an 85-80 overtime win over the Lady Indians. She shot 61% from the floor, hit 20-of-33 field goal attempts, seven of 11 beyond the arc and 12-of-15 free throws. For the season, Kyra is averaging 21.4 points, three rebounds, 3.72 assists and 2.24 steals per game.

Missouri closes out its home schedule tonight against Auburn. The Tigers lost 68-44 at Georgia on Saturday. Mizzou has dropped 14 of its last 15 games to slip to 8-and-21 overall and 2-and-14 in the SEC. Auburn has lost four in-a-row to fall to 12-and-17 and 4-and-12.
