Missouri Unemployment Rate is Falling

According to the latest report released by the Missouri Department of Economic Development, the state’s unemployment rate slightly dropped last month, but the number of workers in the labor force also decreased. The unemployment rate in Missouri was 7.3 and May and fell to 7.1 in June. To be counted in the number of unemployed workers counted by the state, a person must be actively looking for work. The number of employees in the civilian labor force in Missouri fell by nearly 13,000 compared to the previous month. The state also lost 3,100 local government jobs during the month, but gained 1,000 federal government jobs and 700 state jobs. Private sector fell by 2,600 in June.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Seth Schenck. The New Haven Junior won the state title in the the 800 meter run at Lincoln University in Jefferson City. Seth also took second in the 1600 meter run and anchored the 4X800 relay team that captured seventh place. Seth also played basketball and ran cross country in his junior year at New Haven. He is also a very good student.
