Missouri Marijuana

The decriminalization of marijuana in Missouri will not be put in front of voters in November, but advocacy groups aren’t giving up yet. The group Show Me Cannabis failed to get enough signatures to get the initiative on the ballot. Tony Neninger in Columbia was part of the effort and says he hopes the group and its’ subsidiaries can agree on a ballot language and an approach that is successful in putting a measure in front of voters in 2014.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Garrett Leimkuehler, Sophomore Quarterback for the Hermann Bearcats. Garrett has completed 58% of his passes, 22 of 38 for 441 yards, six touchdowns and two interceptions. He has also carried the ball 36 times for 371 yards for 13 touchdowns and he is averaging more than 10 yards per carry.

On Saturday, September 6, our family lost a dear friend to a car accident. Listeners know her as Lexi the Impulse Puppy. It surprised us a bit just how much the loss struck us--a tribute to just how much that dog loved us--and just how much we loved that dog. Dogs are not the same as people, but they certainly tap into the very best of us.

The St. Louis Cardinals are into the playoffs despite a 7-2 loss to the Reds at Busch Stadium. The Cards clinched their fourth consecutive playoff berth with Milwaukee's loss to Pittsburgh and currently lead the Pirates by two-and-a-half games in the NL Central. Jay Bruce homered twice and knocked in three, Devin Mesoraco hit a three-run blast and Todd Frazier also went deep for the Reds, who snapped a six-game losing streak.
