Man Drops Cocaine in Franklin County School

A St. Louis man is in big trouble with Franklin County authorities after a bag of cocaine fell out his pocket while he was at his child’s school. The incident happened on Monday at Nike School in Catawissa. It was reported that someone witnessed a small baggie fall from a parent’s pocket. The bag was recovered by school officials and turned over to deputies. The following morning, police observed the parent dropping off his child at the school. They conducted a traffic stop and took the man in to custody for driving while revoked. While searching the suspect deputies located a large sum of money and two plastic baggies containing a substance believed to be cocaine. The 36 year old St. Louis man was transported to the Franklin County Jail for investigation of narcotics violations by possessing narcotics within a school zone.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Senior Allison Hinson with the St. Clair Track and Field Team. Allison won state in the Class 4 Shot Put with a distance of 47-feet-three and three quarter inches in the state track championships at Lincoln University in Jefferson City Friday. Allison will continue her throwing career at Illinois State University. She has also been an honor role student throughout her high school career.

Commencement, it is said, is a beginning. Yet graduations are also the end of an era--for students and their parents. For the kids, it's a time of excitement and promise. For parents, it's a bit more bittersweet.

What will the future hold for the Class of 2015? Time will tell.

My youngest has now graduated from high school. Back in 1980, I was the youngest of my family who graduated.
