Man Assaults His 88 Year Old Grandparents

An Assault over the weekend sends a St Clair man to jail and sends his grandparents to the hospital. On Saturday night St Clair police were called to the one hundred block of West Springfield road for the report of an assault in progress. When they arrived they found 31 year old James Robert Capehart, his father and grandmother with injuries to the head. Capehart was being held to the floor by his 66 year old father who had obvious signs of head trauma. According to statements Capehart went into a rage and began throwing furniture around the house. He then began striking his 88 year old grandmother on the head with a .38 caliber pistol as she was attempting to flee down the hallway carrying Capehart's eleven month old child. He also repeatedly struck his 88 year old grandfather with the pistol. The victims were transported to an area hospital where they were treated and later released. Officers later seized drug paraphernalia and marijuana from the residence. Capehart was charged with three counts of Felony Assault and Additional charges are being sought for endangering the welfare of the child, and the illegal substances located at the residence.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Washington Senior Legion Baseball Player Trent Leimkuehler. Trent has put up some impressive numbers so far this season. The Post 218 Center fielder is currently hitting .551 with 20 runs batted in and 16 runs scored. He has two home runs, two triples and eight doubles. He also plays good defense in the outfield with good speed and a strong arm.

The Washington Wood Bat Tournament gets underway today. Washington will play two games back to back at St. Francis Borgia Regional High School. Manchester is the first opponent at 1:00 followed by a match up with Thoman Boothe at 3:30. Our next broadcast game is Friday evening when Washington plays Dunklin County at 7:30 at Ronsick Field. Post 218 is 12-3 going into the tournament which will run through Sunday evening.
