Francis Slay Will Run for a Fourth Term

St. Louis mayor Francis Slay will run for a fourth term. Today was the first day candidates can file for office and Mayor Slay was the first in line. Mayor Slay arrived at the Board of Election Commissioners Office at 7:30am on November 26 to file for the March primary. The first person to file will be the first name on the ballot. Candidates have until early January to officially register.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Senior Middle Blocker Amanda Vollmer of the Washington Blue Jays. She helped the team capture the championship of the 60th Annnual Hermann Tournament with a two set win over St. Francis Borgia last week. Amanda described the title win as the highlight of her high school career to this point. She will play volleyball at the University of Missouri-St. Louis, where she will study nursing.

Julio Teheran hurled six scoreless frames and the bullpen completed the shutout as the Braves blanked the Cardinals, 4-0 at Turner Field. Teheran scattered five hits and fanned six to improve to 11-and-8. Daniel Castro homered, tripled, and scored twice to lead Atlanta. Jaime Garcia gave up two runs over four frames to take the loss for St. Louis, which rested most of its regular starters.
