Founder's Day in Union

Founder’s Day in Union is coming up this weekend. Come on out to the city park for a full day of family fun and music on Saturday. The Union Chamber 5 and 10k walk starts at 7:30 on Friday. Then the community is invited to the main pavilion in the city park for the Founders Day celebration on Saturday. The 3 on 3 kids basketball tournament begins at 8:30 and the Miller Light Washer Tournament kicks off at 1pm. Numerous activities are scheduled throughout the day for kids and adults. The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Senior Swimmer Michael Matthews from St. Francis Borgia Regional High School in Washington. Michael medalled in two events at the state swim meet at the St. Peters Rec-Plex. He took 7th in the 50-Yard Freestyle and 4th in the 100-Yard Butterfly. Michael also medalled in four events in the AAA Conference meet, helping Borgia secure the conference title.

Max Pacioretty scored twice on his 26th birthday as the Canadiens cruised to a 4-1 win over the Blues at the Bell Centre. Vladimir Tarasenko scored the lone goal in the first period for St. Louis, which fell to 0-and-2 on its four-game road trip. Jake Allen allowed all four goals on 30 shots in the setback. The Blues skate in Ottawa tomorrow.
