East Central College Will Host a Voter Forum

Local residents will have a chance to get to know the candidates before the November general election. East Central College will host a voter forum on Thursday October 25, 2012 at 6:30PM in the training center on the ECC campus in Union Missouri. Officials say the goal is to help the community make informed decisions before they head to the polls on Election Day. All capitates for state and local offices have been invited to participate. The public is encouraged to attend.
The candidates who have confirmed their attendance are: Missouri Governor representatives for both Jay Nixon and David Spence, Lt. Governor representative for Cynthia Davis, U.S. House of Representatives - 3rd District Eric Mayer, Missouri Attorney General representative for Ed Martin, State Representatives- 108th district Paul Curtman and Ann Schroeder, State Representatives- 61st district Michael Sage and Dave Schatz, Franklin County Commissioners- 2nd Teresa Connelly and Michael Schatz, Franklin County Public Administrators Julie Bowen and Mary Jo Straatmann, and Franklin County Assessors Tom Copeland and Angela Beckett.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Washington Senior Legion Baseball Player Trent Leimkuehler. Trent has put up some impressive numbers so far this season. The Post 218 Center fielder is currently hitting .551 with 20 runs batted in and 16 runs scored. He has two home runs, two triples and eight doubles. He also plays good defense in the outfield with good speed and a strong arm.

The Washington Wood Bat Tournament gets underway today. Washington will play two games back to back at St. Francis Borgia Regional High School. Manchester is the first opponent at 1:00 followed by a match up with Thoman Boothe at 3:30. Our next broadcast game is Friday evening when Washington plays Dunklin County at 7:30 at Ronsick Field. Post 218 is 12-3 going into the tournament which will run through Sunday evening.
