America in Bloom Judges Visit This Week

The America in Bloom Judges will be coming though Washington this week, and Mayor Sandy Lucy couldn’t be happier we are not in the middle of a drought. Hillerman’s Nursery Landscape Design Foreman and Co-Chair of the America in Bloom Committee, Dave Wehmeyer, says the judges will be in town on Thursday and Friday to experience the Washington community. Wehmeyer says the Judges will stay at the Old Dutch this year and will visit the recycling center, water tower park, Mercy Hospital, the Downtown area and all the parks. The Judges are looking for landscaping features but are also looking for Washington pride and efforts to make the community a better place to live. Wehmeyer says if you have been putting off weeding the garden, mowing the lawn or trimming the shrubs – this is the week to do it.
