3 Killed in Sullivan Accident

A two vehicle head on collision claims the lives of three people from Sullivan and seriously injuries a Potosi man. According to the Highway Patrol, 25 year old Casey Edwards was driving southbound on Highway 185 about a half a mile north of highway EE Friday morning when he crossed the center line to pass another vehicle and collided head on with a Dodge Ram driven by 22 year old Travis Rawe. Casey Edwards and two passengers, 28 year old Valerie Lewis and 56 year old Shari Ryerson were pronounced dead at the scene. Travis Rawe was airlifted to Mercy in Creve Couer. The accident happened at 6:30 Friday morning.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Senior Swimmer Michael Matthews from St. Francis Borgia Regional High School in Washington. Michael medalled in two events at the state swim meet at the St. Peters Rec-Plex. He took 7th in the 50-Yard Freestyle and 4th in the 100-Yard Butterfly. Michael also medalled in four events in the AAA Conference meet, helping Borgia secure the conference title.

Max Pacioretty scored twice on his 26th birthday as the Canadiens cruised to a 4-1 win over the Blues at the Bell Centre. Vladimir Tarasenko scored the lone goal in the first period for St. Louis, which fell to 0-and-2 on its four-game road trip. Jake Allen allowed all four goals on 30 shots in the setback. The Blues skate in Ottawa tomorrow.
